Mama’s Pie in the Sky 2015 Thanksgiving bake sale was a big success, thanks to all the dedicated volunteers who made it happen. Together we raised nearly $115,000 to provide vital nutrition to men, women and children affected by AIDS or cancer.

Delicious pumpkin, apple, pecan and Dutch apple pies were donated by many talented bakers (see the list) and enjoyed by people celebrating Thanksgiving all over San Diego County.

The secret recipe for our success was our amazing group of pie sellers who sold almost 4,500 pies! Our star pie sellers included top three teams Southland Envelope Company, Intuit, and True Chiropractic; and top individual sellers Roger Werbeck, Marion Perlman, and Patty Scarborough. Every one of our pie sellers made a difference and we’re very grateful!

Kudos to our 107 hardworking volunteers who donated 616 hours doing everything from building boxes to picking up and sorting pies to staffing pick-up sites. Special thanks goes to volunteer Kevin Hunter, who once again headed up Pie Central where all the sorting and boxing happened.

We’re grateful to Presenting Sponsor, Wells Fargo for their contribution and providing bank branches for the pick-up sites, and to Major Sponsor Sycuan Casino for donating 800 pies to our cause.

It’s heartwarming to see our community come together during the holidays and share their time and talents to benefit those in need. Pie is, indeed, love.
