Mama’s Kitchen continues to fill a need in our community by providing hot, nutritious meals to men, women and children who are affected by AIDS or cancer, free of charge. We offer 11 different meal plans to meet our clients’ nutritional requirements, and our meals are lovingly prepared and hand-delivered by hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Mama’s Pantry Service provides a once-a-month shopping opportunity to low-income HIV positive individuals, to help them add nutrition to their diet and stretch their budget.
During the first nine months of 2015, Mama’s Kitchen prepared and delivered 257,385 meals to 367 San Diego County residents living with AIDS or cancer. This included 35,085 meals for our clients’ minor children, a 6.7% increase from the same time period in 2014. In addition, we provided 73,758 meal-equivalents to our Pantry clients to help them restore their health and live more independently.
