Bookkeeper / Mama’s Kitchen
OVERVIEW: Mama’s Kitchen, a community-driven organization, believes that everyone is entitled to the basic necessity of life — nutritious food. Our nutrition services improve the lives of women, men, and children vulnerable to hunger due to HIV, cancer, or other critical illnesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Perform all General Ledger functions
- Reconcile bank accounts, payment processor and credit card statements
- Enter all transactions into the QuickBooks system
- Develop reports as needed supporting of operations and development departments
- Prepare documents for and work with auditors
- Maintain all accounting records and organize documents for archiving
- Needs to be willing and able to work in an open work environment
GENERAL ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Highly proficient with all aspects of QuickBooks Premier software, Nonprofit edition preferred
- Knowledge of accounting functions, including General Ledger, Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Previous experience with non-profit organization(s) a plus
- Three years’ experience working in a full-spectrum bookkeeping position
- Ability to perform all general office procedures
- This position is multi-faceted, as are the programs of our organization; therefore we require an individual who is highly organized, flexible, and pays meticulous attention to details.
- Good written and oral communications skills
