Our experience at Mama’s Kitchen during the holiday season is an affirming one. It’s one that leaves us feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the expressions of generosity witnessed at this time:
- Food drives that support Mama’s Pantry;
- Financial gifts that support all of Mama’s services; and
- Volunteers that are eager to support the mission by helping in the kitchen, packaging food in the staging area, and delivering food throughout San Diego County.
The spirit of the holidays is evidently abundant. And our gratitude mirrors this generosity.
The start of the year provides an opportunity to reaffirm our commitments. You are invited to extend the spirit of the holiday season into the new year. Many opportunities to do so abound. During the remainder of our fiscal year ending June 30, 2017, we anticipate delivering an estimated 165,000 meals and having over 2,400 client visits at Mama’s Pantry. Our volunteer meal delivery drivers will drive some 60,000 miles between January and June. Come find your place in our mission.
We are always in search of food drive volunteers for our pantry. Opportunities to deliver food always exist – especially for outlying areas: North County and East County. And we always appreciate volunteers willing to help answer our phones and staff our reception area. These are just some of the many opportunities that are available to be part of a diverse environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and affirming of all members of our community.
May your 2017 be rich with love, purpose, and contentment.
